Canis Lupus - Grey Wolf/Timber Wolf.  Color is variable from white to black with hues of cream, gray brown and orangish black.  Males weigh up to 175 lbs. and live up to 16 years in the wild, average life is wild about 10 years.   This carnivore frequents all habitats, especially lake shoreline and forest edges.   Are very social with about 80 percent belonging to a territorial pack.  One way of communication with other packs is by howling  Usually once a wolf in the pack start howling, the other pack members join in, signaling the strength and numbers in the pack.  A wolf on its own rarely ever howls.
