Dougherty  Wildlife Collection

                                About the Artist

Frank began art training at the early age of eleven  under the tutorage of Frederick and Josephine Reiniger.  Fred Reiniger was a student at Boston's Fenway School and studied under such notables as John Sloane, George Lowler and George Bridgeman.   Josephine was an accomplished artist and teacher.  Frank's love of art continued into high school under the direction of Fran Chauncy, a teacher, mentor and one who encouraged Frank to continue his education in the arts.  Chauncy was also once a student of Josephine Reiniger.  Hussian  School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, enabled Frank to experience different art mediums under the direction of many skilled, artisans/teachers.

Upon completion of college, Frank traveled across the United States refining painting and sculpting skills.    Travels brought him to Colorado in 1977and inspired by the stunning scenery,  established his studio at the foot of Pikes Peak and the Rocky mountains.    "I sculpt so I can paint them... my sculpture is my "three dimensional canvases", states Frank.

The Dougherty Collection can be seen at galleries and fine gift shops across the United States.    His work has appeared in national catalogs: Wild Wings Collection - catalog for collectors of the finest quality wildlife art; Cabelas - catalog for sportsmen and outdoor enthusiast; and  Mangy Moose - specialized catalog for Moose memorabilia.

Throughout the year, Frank takes his art on the road.  See show schedule for listing of upcoming shows.  Many of these shows are juried and invitational shows such as Colorado, Texas and Kansas Indian Markets; Estes Park, Evergreen and Castle Rock, and Durango Art Shows  in Colorado;  Charleston Wildlife Exposition in South Carolina; and the Fountain Hills Great Fair in Fountain Hills

Since the creation over twenty  years ago of the Dougherty Wildlife Collection, his art has appeared in various benefit auctions such as Elk Foundations, Bighorn Societies, and Safari Clubs around the country.  The proceeds raised benefit wildlife and their habitat as well as educational opportunities for our young people, issues close to Frank's heart.
